Another genre I'm not usually crazy about: fairy tale re-tellings. They tend to make me grumpy. I don't know why. But Leah Wilcox's Falling For Rapunzel
makes me laugh. In it, the prince tries to rescue a perfectly content Rapunzel from her castle, but she has trouble hearing him from so high up. Misunderstandings ensue. For example, here's his first try: "'Rapunzel, Rapunzel, throw down your hair!' She thought he said, 'Your underwear.'" And a pair of frilly briefs lands on his horse's head. You get the idea. It's perfectly frivolous, with a terrific ending.
