Blankets (Book for Teens)

Here's another spectacular book for teens:  Craig Thompson's Blankets.  It's a magnificent story of first love, familial love, youth and innocence and their loss, faith and its loss, and hope.  It's also a beautifully rendered graphic novel.  I'm an old-school reader; I prefer words to pictures when I read novels.  But I treasure this book. 

I have to once again credit David Levithan, who included BLANKETS (and several of the other books for teens I recommend) on the reading list of the literature course he teaches for the New School MFA program.  The favorites list on his My Space page lists more great reads.
